The Riverdale Niggun
A niggun of wandering, of preparation, of liftoff
Imagine you are walking down the road on the way to shul (synagogue).
As you walk, a melody starts to come to you. You begin to hum it quietly to yourself.
Ayyy yai, ayy yai, ayy yai, ayy yai…
It sounds familiar, yet somehow new at the same time.
You reach a fork in the road, and see a friend. As you continue to hum and make your way towards the shul, they join in the melody, picking it up in stride with you.
At each fork in the road, more people join in.
The energy builds with the strength of the melody, until finally, as you reach the synagogue, you can’t help yourself anymore, and the melody takes off!
Jumping, dancing, swaying, laughing, you all join hands and sing out together.
The wave of the Riverdale Niggun carries you away…
